Anybody remember Picture Pages with Bill Cosby on the Captain Kangaroo Show.  Always wanted on of those funky pens and the picture pages book to be able to draw along with Mr Cosby.

Well here's my picture page for today.

Was watching "A Day In The Life Of.." on Hulu today.  The person who's day they were following is the infamous Mr Brainwash.  Who was the central figure in the Banksy film "Exit through the giftshop"  I took it as a genius mocumentary by Banksy.  I mean how can a person who never had an interest in art, never picked up a paint brusnh or even drawn a stick figure can become a multi million dollar artist practically overnight.  Its got to be a mocumentary.  Another gag by Banksy or maybe a social commentary on how easily we can fall into and believe the hype in our current culture. It was all fake, we can't be that gullible, right.  Or least thats what I told myself to be able to sleep at night.  Then I saw this Hulu episode which followed Mr Brainwash through a regular day for him. Now is this a continuation of Banksy's gag with his initial film, was the original film a mocumentary that ended up creating a real "artist" (and I use that term loosely) or was it in fact something real and we are that stupid to believe all the hype that is thrown in our faces.  I don't know about you but this really bothers me.  That a person with no discernable talent can become a millionaire doing what basically bad art that steals from other artist.  Art that he doesn't even make he hires other people to make it for him then signs it (I know Warhol and Lichtenstein also have done just that but they did actually paint and create with their own hands before falling into the assembly line system of creating art).  Then you have those who are actual talented artist that are struggling to get by with little to no recognition.  The only thing these artist are lacking when compared to Mr Brainwash is knowing how to manipulate the media and create such a buzz and such hype that people are willing to pay hundreds upon thousands of dollars for art from an "artist" nobody had even heard of before.  That my friend is totally bogus.
